- backup database: pg_dumpall > dump.sql
- http://wiki.postgresql.org/wiki/Apt
- Create /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pgdg.list
- Put this in the file:
- deb http://apt.postgresql.org/pub/repos/apt/ [code]-pgdg main
- where [code] can be found by lsb_release -c
- wget --quiet -O - https://www.postgresql.org/media/keys/ACCC4CF8.asc | sudo apt-key add -
- sudo apt-get update
- ps -C postgres
- sudo apt-get purge postgresql-8.4
- Create database user
- Restore database
- Done
